Covid-19: How Should We Pray?

On March 20, 2020March 19, 2020 By 1pursuitIn Difficulty and Pain, Prayer and UnionLeave a comment

Difficult passages in the life of a person, a community, or a nation often drive people to prayer. While prayer is always available to us, so many of us are not available to pray.  We are too busy, to hurried, to distracted, and to selfish in our paradigms to stop to communicate with our God.  …

The Lord’s Prayer a Model

“We hear it said that a man will suffer in his life is he does not pray; I question it. What will suffer is the life of the Son of God within him, which is nourished not by food but by prayer...Prayer is the way the life of God is nourished.” --Oswald Chambers If prayer …

Prayer and Fixation

The true spirit of prayer is no other than God's own Spirit dwelling in the hearts of the saints. And as this spirit comes from God, so doth it naturally tend to God in holy breathings and pantings. It naturally leads to God, to converse with him by prayer. --Jonathan Edwards “Therefore, since we are …

“To be honest, most of my prayers are a monologue. I tell God what’s on my mind, and then my prayer time is done. The communication flows one direction. And most of the time I don’t even verbalize my prayers. I simply offer words in my head.” – Rodney Reeves, in Christianity Today, June 11, …

True Christianity is the “Christ Life”

New covenant Christianity is the life of Christ Jesus Himself, lived in us in place of our own efforts at making a life. This is referred to as "The Christ Life." When we abandon our self-life and self-direction, the Spirit of Christ is free to live in and through us every moment of every day. It is this life, the divine life of God in us, for which we were created and then redeemed.

Commit to this life, and you will live in the presence and power of the Spirit of Christ every day. All of the promises of an abundant life in the Bible come to us only as we live the Christ Life every day. Commit yourself without reservation to His life in you and you will not lose anything of eternal value. What you will find is the life for which your soul longs.
