Jackson’s Fixation

On April 24, 2025April 24, 2025 By 1pursuitIn Uncategorized4 Comments

My dog, Jackson, and I lived together for over eight years.  Along this path I discovered parallels between how my dog responded to me and how I want to respond to my God.  Of course, the analogies are incomplete, and not everything that Jackson did was noteworthy as a spiritual lesson. Jumping up on the sofa …

Jackson’s Security

On March 10, 2025February 26, 2025 By 1pursuitIn Uncategorized1 Comment

“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”  Josh Billings I would characterize Jackson as a dog whose love language was “touch,” but that is probably not a strong enough descriptor.  His love language was more like “press.”  If I stopped to pet or scratch him, he …

Jackson’s Shelter

On February 7, 2025January 28, 2025 By 1pursuitIn UncategorizedLeave a comment

In the last post I introduced you to my dog Jackson, a most fearful and skittish canine.  Chalk some of this up to his pedigree, dubious as it seemed to be, since he was part Dalmatian.  The rest of his jumpiness seemed to be related to a traumatic history that apparently involved brooms and other …

Meet Jackson

Meet my dog, Jackson.  I acquired him from the local shelter along with his “bunkmate,” Abby (with the red collar).  Abby was a great-looking Labrador mix, with an estimated age of 10 or 11 years.  She and Jackson, who was thought to be about four years old, arrived at the shelter together and appeared to …

A Most Unusual Dog

On January 3, 2025January 3, 2025 By 1pursuitIn UncategorizedLeave a comment

Jackson - A Most Unusual Dog. The pictures with this post is of Jackson, who was truly a most unusual dog. A pound rescue from 2015 (one of a pair of dogs I adopted that year), Jackson went on to be locally famous for his uncanny ability to find people who needed, well, and empathetic …

My dog, Jackson, and I have lived together for five years now.  Along this path I have discovered linkages between how my dog responds to me and how I want to respond to my God.  Of course, the analogies are incomplete and not everything that Jackson does is noteworthy as a spiritual lesson.  Like jumping …

True Christianity is the “Christ Life”

New covenant Christianity is the life of Christ Jesus Himself, lived in us in place of our own efforts at making a life. This is referred to as "The Christ Life." When we abandon our self-life and self-direction, the Spirit of Christ is free to live in and through us every moment of every day. It is this life, the divine life of God in us, for which we were created and then redeemed.

Commit to this life, and you will live in the presence and power of the Spirit of Christ every day. All of the promises of an abundant life in the Bible come to us only as we live the Christ Life every day. Commit yourself without reservation to His life in you and you will not lose anything of eternal value. What you will find is the life for which your soul longs.
