On the value of our weaknesses: The world’s salvation, the lost’s redemption, and the found’s sanctification were not wrought in eternity past, although they were conceived and warranted there. These gifts were not wrought in the three years in which Christ Jesus walked the earth calling many to repentance and doing good.
No, they were wrought in the three hours of darkness during which He hung stripped, beaten, helpless, forsaken, abandoned, nailed to the stake and crossbeam. Hung until He was dying in utter exhaustion of spirit, soul, and body. Hung until his heart broke and His body died cruelly.
Truly, both the seedbed and the price of true power in the Kingdom of our God is weakness.
“So it is with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power...” I Corinthians 15:42-43
“He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
“…who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.” Hebrews 11:33-34
“Our God needs one’s helplessness as truly as the negative pole is needed to complete the electric circuit and set free the power.” – I. Lilias Trotter

Tim, this is beautiful! “Heavenly Father, I’m so thankful for my utter helplessness and weakness!”
Your poignant and powerful post of the 3 years…the 3 hours where weakness was completed warranted and WITNESSED. Yet, the strength and surrender to say, “It is finished.” It’s finished, Tim. I don’t have to be strong. I can boast about every weakness I have. His perfect power made in this weakness.
Your photos, verses, and the Trotter quote hit the heart, dear friend.
God bless you and Rascal, dear friend!

Thank you for your kind words, Karla. This is evidence that the Kingdom of our God is on a higher plane that we are. We who are prideful in seeking strength are in opposition to the example of Christ and the plain teachings on our life in His Kingdom.
I used to call it “the upside-down Kingdom.” I am realizing that it is truly right-side up. I am the one who is upside-down. As is the world.
“Love not the world or the things of the world,” said our forerunner.
God bless you both this evening!

Thank you, Tim, for this powerful reminder that true strength is born from surrender. Reading about the three hours of Christ’s ultimate weakness makes me reflect on how our own limitations are not failures, but spaces where His power can dwell. Your words and scriptures inspire a deeper trust in God’s perfect timing and plan—even in our weakest moments.

Indeed, our limitations and weaknesses are not problems but opportunities if we are walking by His Spirit. Only by His indwelling are we set free from the power of problems and into the power of His possibilities. Thank you for your comments! Blessings!

Yes, that is beautifully expressed. What a freeing truth—that in Christ, our weaknesses are not barriers but bridges to His possibilities. Thank you for this reminder of walking by His Spirit with hope.
