Notable and Quotable: Andrew Murray

“Let me press upon everyone…the solemn obligation resting upon him to care for those around him – not only the outcast, but those with whom he is associated in church fellowship, very specially any who are in danger of being hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. The Christ unto whom we are to grow up in all things is the Christ “from whom all the body, fitly framed and knit together, through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in its measure of each several part, maketh the increase of the body unto the building up of itself in love.” Our connection with the head, the power of our growth unto Him in all things, must be maintained in our love to the members of His body around, however feeble or backward.”

“The work will be difficult. Bur strength for it will come as for any other work. First of all, accept the command; get the heart filled with the sense of obligation; yield yourself to your Master in willing obedience, even though you see not the slightest prospect of doing it. Then wait on Him for His light and strength – for wisdom to know how to begin, for boldness to speak the truth in love. Present yourself unto God as one alive from the dead, and your member as instruments of righteousness in His hands. Let the fire within the heart be kept burning; the grace of obedience will not be withheld.”

From the book, “The Holiest of All,” an outstanding verse-by-verse exposition of the entire book of Hebrews.

  1. Love is the signature of God in a life. Truth is the ministration of life which flows from a heart captured by His Love.

“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ…”
    Eph. 4:15

It is BY this ministration that we grow up into Him… Such is the Hope we have

    Blessings good brother

  2. This is beautiful, my friend! Waiting,…allowing the strength of God just at the time it’s needed. A complete surrender to the work only HE can do through us that choose to allow his love and grace to work. I long for that holiness only in my life. And to use wisdom, his calling, and strength to help me share it! Tim, God is working through you. Blessings!
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

      1. It’s my blessing, Tim! Isn’t writing cathartic? I never knew how much I missed it until I sat at my desk, went to the Lord in much quiet time and prayer, and just started typing. Some days I just freeze. And pray. Yesterday afternoon was so tough. I couldn’t put my finger on it. My body ached. I realized that perhaps the procedure that was done in October to numb the nerves in my pancreas might be wearing off. What I felt is what I call, “good old-fashioned tumor pain”. I know the difference now. Then fatigue hit. I thought of the mountains-my climbs, the views, and even the valleys. I felt this overwhelming sense of God’s presence. I killed time in the middle of the night watching a movie, too. I’ve never watched so much T.V. and fortunately, I’m able to find some good things to watch. No matter what, the Lord has me. He has you and all of us that choose to surrender to him. I say all of this to say, “I do need the courage and I’m going to keep mustering it up!” Today is a bit better and I’m giving God the glory! Stay blessed my friend! Prayers always!
