“He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings utter darkness into the light.”
Job, recorded in Job 12:22
“He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.”
Daniel, the prophet, recorded in Daniel 2:22
“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
Jesus Christ, recorded in John 16:12-15
“In is not only light but is the light of life, a peculiar kind of light, a light which emanates from a life-giving body and which quickens and thrills and begets life in its illuminating as no other light can or does. Of this peculiar kind is the light is the light which is shed abroad in the heart of a yielded child of God. If differs from mere knowledge. it is more than the cold, clear light which enters through the intellect. it is the light of life: the light which radiates from the Spirit of Life within Him. No other light illuminates and reveals as this does. The surrendered man sees things as never before. To him the Word of God becomes a new book. It thrills; it quickens; it convicts of failure and of unchristlikeness; it searches and lays bare the inner most depths of the soul; if discloses the holiness of God; it stimulates growth; it begets new aspirations; it stirs to zeal and service before unknown.”
“Under it he now begins to understand the secret of guidance. The past lights up anew. Events apparently disconnected are seen to have been links in the chain of God’s guidance. Impressions noted but not understood are perceived to have been the moving and leading of God’s Spirit within. The will of God is now seen in the chastening and testing of life, as well as in its joys and blessings, and the indescribably experience of seeing God at work in and through his life is sure proof that the light of life is illuminating his inner man with its clear shinning.”
From James McConkey, “The Surrendered Life.”
Good morning my friend. What a beautiful “enlightening” piece. I use Abide meditations and the one last night was about the light of the moon. I long to explain to others how the light of Christ has called me for an ever deeper longing in my Spirit. That in the pursuit of this longing, there’s a light that has been brightened over a life filled with ascents and descents. There’s a discernment that comes only from Christ. A wisdom that encapsulates from the whirlwinds of life. It’s brought me to a place of peace. I SEE the light because I live in the light! Thank you for this message my friend!!

Thank you for responding to this, Karla. The Spirit used your words to remind me of Psalm 36: 5-9.
Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.9
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.
Our understandings of our God, of Scripture, of life, of people and events – our light – comes because of the light and life of Jesus in us by His Holy Spirit. For years I used to think I had to strive to develop light. There is now so much freedom in my relationship with Christ because He is the source of the light I seek. And He lives in and through me.
I resonate with your wise words: “I long to explain to others how the light of Christ has called me for an ever deeper longing in my Spirit. That in the pursuit of this longing, there’s a light that has been brightened over a life filled with ascents and descents. There’s a discernment that comes only from Christ. A wisdom that encapsulates from the whirlwinds of life. It’s brought me to a place of peace. I SEE the light because I live in the light!”
Our God is at work in us, and in all who so seek Him. God bless you today, Karla. Thanks again for sharing your journey with us!

You’re so welcome, my friend. It’s so encouraging to walk alongside others who know TRUE freedom! HE indeed is the only light. I feel so much gratitude that I’ve been able to read your words and know you on this “side” of heaven. Glory awaits! Specifically, if I may request, please pray as I begin radiation at the end of this week. I’ll have external for bones and then, on the 29th, I’ll go in as an outpatient for internal radiation for organs. I’ll have monthly injections and bimonthly blood work. I have such a peace, Timothy. No matter what…I’m cradled in Christ. It’s so wonderful to have an inner peace and light that can shine only because of our redeeming Savior and Creator! May he bless YOU today and every day after. Thank you again.

Character determines revelation… “God’s revelation of Himself to me is determined by my character not God’s” Oswald Chambers
“With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright. With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury. And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.” 2 Samuel 2:26-28

Chambers is always a great source of understanding of how our God works in us. Revelation follows character, as he states. Character follows obedience. And Jesus told us that obedience will follow love for Him. Love for our God walks in the company of surrender to Him. The interrelationship of these factors is not complex, rather it is simple. Our life in God is founded on love for Him and surrender to Him. When these begin to manifest in us, He works His life and light in us.
The words of 2 Samuel you posted are spot on to these things. Thank you for the great response, Brian. May our God bless us in our pursuit of Him.
