Thoughts on the beauty and importance of solitude in our spiritual progress.
Oswald Chambers: “Solitude with God repairs the damage done by the fret and noise and clamour of the world.”
Thomas Merton: “Solitude is not something you must hope for in the future. Rather, it is a deepening of the present, and unless you look for it in the present you will never find it”
Paul Tillich stated, “Language…has created the word ‘loneliness’ to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word ‘solitude’ to express the glory of being alone.”
Isaiah the Prophet, in Isaiah chapter 30, verse 15: “This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.””
